iphpPod is a simple, lightweight php script which gives you access to non-iTunes media on your iPod Touch (or iPhone).

If you've downloaded content directly to your iPod Touch, via the Safari Download plugin, DropCopy, or even just transferred via SSH (maybe you're using Linux and can't use iTunes), you'll know that you can't view this content with the in-built Apple media players.

iphpPod solves this by creating a simple HTML-based interface for your media, which is viewed in MobileSafari.

iphpPod v0.2 supports the following content :

  • mp3, including ID3v1 tag support
  • mp4 (H.264 / AAC), plus the capability to create video thumbnails using ffmpeg
  • various image formats
  • jpg
  • gif
  • bmp
  • png

Additionally, if you are connected to a network,  others can access the media on your iPod Touch via the same interface, simply by connecting to your IP address.
